Corney Brook, Cape Breton

Three glorious days on that distant island of Cape Breton. CB had previously seemed to me sort of a dirty incoherent place, rugged but not a beautiful rugged like Newfoundland.

But being there this time, it was all glorious. We camped in a small campground within the Highlands National Park called "Corney Brook". Our site was within 50 feet from the pounding surf of the Atlantic. Here is a picture of our set up.

That's Jesse standing by the sky-blue tent attending to a fire he tried to keep going day and night. He had bought a new knife for the occasion and was making muc h use of it.
We saw lots of wildlife. Lots of whales, 3 moose, a seal, 2 bald eagles, a pheasant. Perhaps you can recognize some of these creatures in these pictures:

There was also another form of wildlife that seemed to fit in so well with the environment, enjoying the air, the sun, the wind, the water, the fire, the rocks, the hills...

Oh, yes. I forgot — there was one other form of wildlife that Jesse encountered for the first time:

Anyway, we had a great time. It seemed like a week away.
